We performed the spatial layout and material design for a wellness center located in the heart of Honolulu. The space is divided into private guest areas each equipped with steam sauna, cold plunge tub, shower, and lounge area. The rooms are located outdoors so a fabric canopy was installed that shields the harsh direct sun, yet lets selective rays through. Western red cedar paneling is used to create the 7 foot high partitions for privacy. The cedar emits a pleasant aroma to enhance the experience and provide a sense of nature in the heart of the city.
